Salah Eddibe El Barbouchi from Germany wins the 3rd Kayakcentre Fishing Tournament! After only one day of fishing on the Haringlvliet with a total of 410 CM he left everyone behind. In the second place finished Richard Archer (UK) with 337 CM and Martin Breuer (DE) finished in third place with 316 CM.
Saturday we waited until the sun has risen and they went off at 08.00 AM to try to catch the 2 Pike, 2 Perch and 2 Zander they need. It didn’t take long before te fish were caught and TourneyX was loaded with pictures.
After a day of good fishing, the anglers were cold and we moved inside for a nice BBQ buffet arranged with Zuidland Slagerij te Dirksland. It was a pleasant evening ended with ice cream.
During the night and in the morning of the second day the wind was increasing and we were all hoping the weather would change in our favour. Hobie took the rib out at 7.00 AM to check the water but at that moment the waves were pushed up until 1 meter high! We decided to wait until sunset so we could reassess whether it was responsible to go fish or not.
Hobie went out with the rib again but unfortunately, the waves, wind strength and wind direction made it irresponsible to go out on the water today and we had to decide to cancel the day. In our mind we already knew, but we still hoped for a miracle. Not a nice message to deliver, but inescapable. Safety always comes first; it was too dangerous.
The measuring boards were to be delivered back and kayaks to be unharnessed from all the fishing gear. We cancelled the Pizzabus for the evening and started preparing an early Award Ceremony. Where we taught, we still had the whole day to take care of now was done in half an hour. The stage was built and prices were arranged. Luckily the anglers were very understanding.
Thanks to our sponsors we were able to give away amazing prizes to the top 10. A big thank you to: Jarocells, Onedesign drysuits, Bullseyefishing, Dometic, De Catfish Hengelsport, Fish Impact, Taascustoms, Sunvisor, Railblaza, Westinfishing, Hengelsportfauna, Bkhooksbenelux, Hybrida lures, Hobieeyewear, Hobiefishingeurope, Baltic lifejackets, Scotty, Navionics, BFE fishing and Monkey lures.
So, that only leads us to the prize giving, way earlier than expected. The Biggest Fish of the event was caught by Matthias Fischer – 114 CM. The Traascustomes Tournament Board measured a pike of 114 CM. Matthias received a Navionics Platinum + chart and Fish-Impact lures as prize.
We had 2 Junior competitors on this event. Jude Evans and Xander Bakker, both only 14 years old. The youth have the future, so we want to encourage them to continue growing in kayak fishing. They got some goodies in a Dam bag with a little trophy as a souvenir. Xander unfortunately could not catch a fish, but Jude ranked 13th out of 54 with a total of 173 CM.
